This Work Began With A Broken Heart

In memory of Devin Attebery

WHO WE ARE

In 2019, our family experienced what no family should have to endure, but so many have. We lost our youngest son and brother, at only 39, to cancer.

In the weeks and months that followed, grief threatened to consume us. We didn't know how to move forward. We didn't know how to be a family without him.

But somewhere in the darkness, we found a flicker of light.

Our family, led by Gary and Margaret Attebery, had the opportunity to participate in an outreach to the unsheltered community in Salt Lake City. We were moved by the effort and realized that similar outreach was lacking in our Northern Utah area community.

This was the beginning of Do Good Today (DGT), an outreach organization that grew tremendously within its first year and has continued to grow since. We started loading up our personal SUVs with blankets, food, and hygiene kits. We drove to meet our unsheltered neighbors where they were - on the streets, in the parks, anywhere they called home. We didn't have a plan. We just knew we had to help.

What started as a family in pain, trying to heal, slowly grew. Friends joined. Then strangers. Then an entire community.

Today, in addition to outreach, Do Good Today provides needed furnishings to individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness in the Northern Utah area. Beds. Tables. Couches. Kitchen essentials. Everything needed to turn four walls into a home.

Our Mission

Vision

Do Good Today envisions communities where residents are adequately housed and thriving

Mission

Do Good Today is committed to promoting community, health, welfare, and safety through outreach programs and partnerships in the communities that we serve.

Core Values

Compassion: Treating all individuals with dignity and respect.

Collaboration: Partnering with community organizations, government agencies, and volunteers to maximize impact.

Empowerment: Providing tools and resources to help individuals achieve self-sufficiency.

Sustainability: Creating long-term solutions to homelessness through systemic change and community engagement.

Our Work

Do Good Today is a registered non-profit organization supporting community members experiencing food and housing insecurity in Weber County, the ogden-area, and surrounding communities.

This outreach effort is driven entirely by community volunteerism and private donation.

* There is currently No Paid Staff.

What began as two family SUVs loaded with water, some canned food, hygiene items, and a few boxes of donated clothing has grown into an organization that has furnished over 800 apartments since 2021. DGT has distributed over 30,000 pounds of food, numerous tons of clothing, hygiene items, tents, tarps, even bikes to help our neighbors in need of transportation.
